Our Health and Financial Benefit Programs
As a health care organization we are committed to the health and wellbeing of not only our patients but our employees and their families. Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Plymouth (BID Plymouth) offers many benefits that help our employees protect themselves and their families, save for retirement, find resources, and much more. Here are some of our plan highlights:
Eligibility
Most benefits are offered to full and part-time employees based on scheduled hours. An employee’s spouse, domestic partner and/or dependent(s) over age 26 are eligible to participate in most plans.
Medical Insurance & Prescription Drug Coverage
BID Plymouth offers HMO coverage through Harvard Pilgrim Health Care (HPHC), a leading health care insurance provider in the area. In-network coverage is broad and, combined with a comprehensive plan, covers a full spectrum of healthcare. Prescription drug coverage is provided by CVS Caremark. Retail (31 day supply) and mail order (91 day supply) are available. Premium payments are made by BID Plymouth with the employee contributing a portion on a pre-tax basis.
Dental Insurance
Good dental health is an important part of good overall health. Dental coverage is available through Delta Dental of Massachusetts. Coverage includes preventative and diagnostic, basic restorative, major restorative and orthodontia. Premium payments are made by BID Plymouth with the employee contributing a portion on a pre-tax basis.
Vision Insurance
The medical plan, HPHC, provides a basic vision benefit for participants. For those who want more comprehensive coverage, vision insurance is available through EyeMed. Coverage includes eye exam, allowances and discounts. Premiums are employee paid on a pre-tax basis.
Life Insurance
BID Plymouth provides a hospital paid life insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment benefit. Additional life insurance may be purchased covering the employee, spouse and children.
Disability Insurance
If you become disabled and are unable to work, BID Plymouth offers and provides income protection.
- Short-term disability: Provides a benefit of up to 60% of weekly covered earnings.
- Long-term disability: Designed to pick up where short-term disability ends, long-term disability provides a benefit up to 60% of monthly earnings.
- Work-related injury or illness is covered by workers compensation and is not covered by either disability benefit.
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
This benefit provides the opportunity to save money on a pre-tax basis to pay for health care costs and/or dependent care costs not covered by insurance.
- Health Care FSA can save pre-tax up to $2,700 annually for health care related expenses.
- Dependent Care FSA can save pre-tax up to $5,000 annually for dependent care expenses (qualified child and elder care).
403(b) Retirement Plan
Employees can save for retirement on a pre-tax basis up to the IRS annual maximum. After completing one year of service and a minimum of 1,000 hours, eligible employees receive a hospital paid match of 50 cents for each dollar up to the first 4% of pay. A core contribution is made by BID Plymouth of 2% of the employee’s base compensation, with completion of 250 or more hours during the quarter. Match and core contributions are 100% vested when made (after one year of service and a minimum of 1,000 hours). The plan is managed by Fidelity Investments.
Employee & Family Assistance Program (EAP)
Demands on personal and professional life can be extensive. KGA, the hospital’s EAP, is designed to help employees and their families meet the challenges of these demands by offering the employee, dependents, and household members confidential counseling and referral services at no cost.
Earned Time
Eligible employee's accrue Earned Time (ET) hours, which are used for paid time off. ET hours are pro-rated for part-time employees. The ET accrual increases as the employee's length of service increases. In addition to ET, employees have 10 paid holidays.
