Frequently Asked Questions About Anesthesia Billing

Learn how we bill for anesthesia services at BID Plymouth.

Will I get a bill for anesthesia?

If you receive care from the anesthesia team, you’ll get a bill from the anesthesiologist for the professional fee. You also will get a separate bill from BID Plymouth for the anesthetic medicine and equipment used during your procedure.

Will my insurance cover the charges?

Check with your insurance company before your procedure. At BID Plymouth, we don't know what costs your individual plan covers. Each insurance company has different plans. Most plans pay part of your anesthesia services.

You are responsible for paying copayments, deductibles and services not covered by your health insurance.

Why is there a duplicate charge on my bill?

Some insurance companies require us to bill separately for the anesthesiologist and certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) services on individual lines. This may look like a duplicate charge, but it isn't.

The insurance companies that need this billing method will make payments based on one charge. They will divide the payment into two parts.

This billing method is a patient safety step put in place by the federal government to monitor the practice of anesthesia. At BID Plymouth, we make any adjustments needed to meet federal billing requirements.

I don’t have insurance. What should I do?

Please contact the anesthesia billing office at 1-866-717-7300 before your surgery. We will discuss your payment options and provide financial assistance as needed.

Are you contracted with my insurance company?

We contract with many local and government insurance companies. It is best to check with your insurance company directly or call the anesthesia billing office at 1-866-717-7300.

Where can I send correspondence or payments for the anesthesiologist?

You can write or send payments to:

144 Gould Street, #150
Needham Heights, MA 02494
