Sykes Emergency Department at BID Plymouth

Staffed 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, the Sykes Emergency Department (ED) at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Plymouth treats more than 50,000 patients each year. Specialty-trained, board-certified physicians and emergency nursing staff have the expertise to diagnose and treat a wide spectrum of injured or ill patients.

A permanent helipad is available to provide the rapid transfer of the most critically ill patients to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) or another tertiary care center in Boston.

A Team Approach

When you come to the ED you will find a team of professionals, including board-certified emergency physicians and nurses working hand-in-hand to improve your health. The BID-Plymouth Emergency Department depends on the skills, expertise and collaboration of countless physicians, providers, employees and administrators.

BID-Plymouth ED nurses are Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) providers and many have advanced training in pediatrics and trauma. Many ED nurses are also Certified Emergency Nurses (CEN) through the National Emergency Nurses' Association.

Interpreter Services

Language interpreter services are available 24 hours a day/seven days a week at no cost. To request an interpreter, please notify a staff member.

If an interpreter is unavailable, the language line via telephone is used for your communication.
