Multidisciplinary Lifesaving Initiatives for Heart Attacks and Strokes

The Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Plymouth Emergency Department (ED) offers groundbreaking therapy for treating acute heart attack (primary angioplasty program) and stroke. These leading-edge therapies offer patients new hope for promising outcomes, and improved long-term prognoses. The primary angioplasty and rapid stroke teams are available 24 hours per day 7 days per week.

Experts in Stroke Care

The BID Plymouth TeleStroke Service is staffed by the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) Stroke Team and includes world-renowned Vascular Neurologists and Neurosurgeons. Working with our team of Emergency Medicine specialists, they evaluate patients remotely via a video camera to provide immediate state-of-the-art treatment at BID Plymouth. The treatment includes using CT and MRI diagnosis to safely identify those patients who need thrombolytic therapy, a drug that can open up closed arteries to the brain to reverse the injury and protect the brain.

As needed the BIDMC specialists will facilitate transfer of complex cases requiring immediate life-saving interventions to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.

An integrated radiology suite and laboratory services, along with an array of specialty and critical care consultants are available to assist with almost every emergency need.
