Biopsy Testing

Testing expertise you can trust

Biopsy Testing at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Plymouth

A biopsy is a procedure used by your doctor to remove a small tissue sample from your body. The sample is then sent to our Laboratory for close analysis. Lab technicians analyze the sample and provide information to your doctor that helps them diagnose your cancer.

If other tests — such as a physical exam, imaging test or endoscopy — reveal an abnormality, you may need to have a biopsy. In many cases, a biopsy is the definitive test to diagnose cancer and other conditions.

If you need further treatments or consultations, our own specialists and physicians at BID Plymouth may coordinate your care with other experts from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.
