Completing Pre-Admission Testing for Your Stay

NOTE: Pre-Admission Testing is located at 46 Obery Street in the Medical Office Building (on the hospital's campus) across from the helipad.

Your personal physician will make arrangements for your admission prior to your arrival. Your doctor may order pre-admission testing (referred to as PAT), usually for patients who are going to have surgery. Some of the diagnostic studies and assessments needed will be done on an outpatient basis prior to admission. You do not need to fast unless specifically told by doctor.

You will be advised by your physician when to come to the hospital and where to report for PAT. The PAT appointment will take approximately two hours to complete. Please bring a list of your medications or the bottles with you. A patient access representative will call you in advance to gather necessary personal, financial and health insurance information prior to your admission. PAT is located in the hospital's Medical Office Building (across from helipad) at 46 Obery Street.

You should use the PIDC Pavilion main entrance off of Obery Street when you arrive on the day of admission. You will be directed to the patient registration area to complete any other required forms. Please remember to bring your Medicare/Medicaid or private health insurance card or other forms with you.

What To Bring

A few simple things you may bring for your hospital stay:

  • Toiletries
  • A robe
  • Slippers
  • Night clothes
  • Stationery and stamps
  • Reading material

Hospital gowns are available should you choose to wear one. You should also bring a list of all current medications you are taking, but do not bring medications to the hospital unless specifically instructed to do so by your physician.

If you have dentures, eyeglasses, contact lenses or hearing aids, please bring them with you and understand that the hospital cannot take responsibility for their protection or breakage. Please do not wrap them or leave them on your food tray. They should be kept in your bedside drawer.
