Patient Nutrition

When you’re a patient at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Plymouth, you get access to highly nutritious meals.

Our clinical nutrition team includes an executive chef and chief clinical dietitian, who also work closely with registered dietitians and physicians. We plan and prepare meals to meet your nutritional needs as you heal and feel better.

We take your order each day for the following day’s meals. Whenever possible, we try to honor special requests.

You can order guest meals (for a fee) when you place your own meal order, or call Food Services at 508-830-2014, ext. 2014.

Patients are encouraged to select from our delicious menu and call our room service operators to place your order.

Room Service is available from 6:30 am - 6:30 pm

Family members may place orders for loved ones by calling: 508-830-2014, ext. 2014.

  • Patients who cannot participate in room service will be provided meals according to their diet.

Patients who aren’t following a specific diet prescribed by your doctor may enjoy food items brought in from outside by family or friends. However, visitors must first check with the patient's nurse before bringing external food or drink.

Special Menus

Your doctor may want you to follow a specific diet while you’re in the hospital. Special diets often are prescribed for patients with diabetes or heart problems.

Certain medicines and therapeutic diets may alter how food normally tastes to you. Talk to your nurse or dietitian if you have questions about the menu.

We also provide:

  • Celebration menu for new parents. For parents celebrating the birth of their baby, The BirthPlace offers special meals. Please ask your nurse or call Food Services at 508-746-2000, ext. 2163 for the menu.
  • Pediatric menu. We offer meals designed for the nutritional needs and tastes of our younger patients.
