Community Benefits

We are Committed to the Health and Wellbeing of the Residents we Serve

Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth plays a vital role in the lives of people who reside in the communities we serve. BID Plymouth is committed to helping improve the health and wellbeing of the residents in our community benefits service area through a variety of ways. These include creating programs that show a measureable impact and providing grant funding to community organizations who are working to address the unmet health needs for underserved populations.

Community Benefits Needs Assessment (CHNA)

Every three years the hospital conducts a comprehensive Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) to identify the most vulnerable populations and most important health needs within its Community Benefits Service Area. The CHNA process included community listening sessions, a community health survey, focus groups and key informant interviews. Staff collected information from community residents (with a special focus on hard-to-reach populations), hospital leadership, service providers, public officials and other key stakeholders. Staff also analyzed quantitative data on demographics and various social determinants of health (e.g., income, employment, health status and access to health care).

Community Benefits Implementation Strategy (IS)

Once the findings from the CHNA are completed, BID Plymouth develops strategies/programs to address those prioritized needs. These programs live in a document called the Implementation Strategy.
