The nationally-accredited Beth Israel Deaconess - Plymouth Breast Center represents a concerted effort across medical, radiological and surgical disciplines at Beth Israel Deaconess - Plymouth to provide the highest quality breast health care. Our advanced technology and multidisciplinary approach will allow us to streamline the process from the time a patient enters our system and an abnormality is detected. Our goal is to have most diagnoses within five business days.
Our team is pleased to now offer 3D mammography at the Breast Center as well as our offsite location at Resnik Road in Plymouth. 3D exams are recommended for women of all ages and breast densities. A 3D exam allows our radiologists to more effectively pinpoint the size, shape and location of abnormalities. This leads to better detection and greater peace of mind for our patients. 3D mammography has resulted in:
• A 41% increase in the detection of invasive breast cancers
• A 29% increase in the detection of all breast cancers
• A 15% decrease in women recalled for additional imaging
It is our belief that a comprehensive team approach is best for patients. We bring together experts in breast surgery, oncology, radiology, radiation oncology, plastic surgery, nutrition, nursing and pathology. This allows us to meet the individual needs of women. Our coordinated approach to care allows women and their families to schedule appointments with several providers on the same day, giving them the opportunity and information they need to make the best decision.
Under the direction of fellowship trained breast surgeon, Dr. Robyn Sachs, breast surgeon, Dr. Kerry Bennett, and fellowship trained, Director of Breast Imaging, Dr. Colleen Whitecar Fine, the Beth Israel Deaconess - Plymouth Breast Center provides women with easy access to the complete spectrum of clinical and support services, from screening to diagnosis, to treatment, counseling and education.
