Grant Promotes Breast Health Among Portuguese-Speaking Women
(Plymouth, MA) Jordan Hospital’s Women’s Health Network (WHN) has been chosen to receive a $12,424 grant from the Massachusetts Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. The grant supports a special WHN program developed to educate, encourage and provide resources for Portuguese-speaking women without health insurance to obtain breast health services.
The program, titled Programa da Saude da Mama (Breast Health Program), will bring breast health promotion and education directly into Greater Plymouth locations that Portuguese-speaking women frequent most like churches and Portuguese specialty stores. The program will also facilitate enrollment into the state and federally funded Women’s Health Network that provides free breast cancer screenings for women without health insurance.
