Volunteers

Volunteering with Cranberry Hospice
Cranberry Hospice is dedicated to providing physical, emotional, social and spiritual support to people with life limiting illnesses and their families.

A team of hospice professionals and volunteers work cooperatively with the patient, family and primary physician to provide this special type of care.  The hospice volunteer is an essential member of this team.

Volunteers are community residents from the towns we serve and include people who are currently working, retirees and a host of special individuals who want to make a difference in others' lives.

As a hospice volunteer, you will perform important and rewarding work including:

  • Provide companionship, support and understanding to the patient and family
  • Offer assistance with respite, errands or transportation
  • Encourage communication within the family
  • Support the family through the patient's death and share in their grief
  • Offer help in the hospice office such as clerical tasks and assisting with fundraising activities

Among the many rewards, volunteers find that they:

  • Create unique and often lasting relationships with the patient and family
  • Receive satisfaction from making a difference in people's lives
  • Enhance personal growth and gain greater self-knowledge from patient and family relationships and through training provided by Cranberry Hospice
