Endocrinologist Recognized as a Provider for Diabetes Program
Dr. Nathaniel Clark, endocrinologist, Beth Israel Deaconess Specialty Group, is now a recognized provider in The National Committee for Quality Assurance’s (NCQA) Diabetes Recognition Program (DRP). NCQA developed the DRP to provide clinicians with tools to support the delivery and recognition of consistent high-quality care. The program is voluntary and is designed to recognize clinicians who use evidence-based measures and provide excellent care to their patients with diabetes. The DRP Program has 11 measures which cover areas such as: • HbA1c control • Blood pressure control • LDL control • Eye examinations • Nephropathy assessment • Smoking and tobacco use and cessation advice or treatment “This is another step in creating a “center of excellence” in diabetes, offering comprehensive, patient-centered, team-based diabetes care to those we serve”, says BID-Plymouth Senior Vice President of Systems Development James Fanale, MD. Those who achieve DRP Recognition show their peers, patients and others in the diabetes community that they are part of an elite group that is publicly recognized for their skill in providing the highest-level of diabetes care. Currently, Dr. Clark is the only physician who has achieved NCQA recognition on the South Shore (Plymouth and Cape Cod).
