Sleep Center Receives National Accreditation

The Jordan Hospital Sleep Center announced today that it has received program accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). The accreditation is the first for sleep centers in the Plymouth-area and represents the Jordan Hospital Sleep Center’s high-quality and standards for providing sleep disorders treatment to those in the region. “The American Academy of Sleep Medicine congratulates Jordan Hospital Sleep Center on fulfilling the high standards required for receiving accreditation as a sleep disorders center,” says Dr. Sam Fleishman, AASM president. “The Jordan Hospital Sleep Center is a significant resource to the local medical community and will provide academic and scientific value in addition to the highest quality care for patients suffering from sleep disorders.” To receive accreditation for a five-year period, a sleep center must meet or exceed all standards for professional health care as designated by the AASM. These standards address core areas such as personnel, facility and equipment, policies and procedures, data acquisition, patient care, and quality assurance. Additionally, the sleep center’s goals must be clearly stated and include plans for positively affecting the quality of medical care in the community it serves. Jordan Hospital’s Sleep Center was founded in 2010 and is the region’s only hospital-based sleep center providing screening, diagnosis, treatment, counseling and education. Led by Sleep Medicine Specialist and Neurologist Lee Corwin, MD, the Jordan Hospital Sleep Center is located at 45 Resnik Road in Plymouth. “In achieving this voluntary accreditation, Jordan Hospital’s Sleep Center shows a strong commitment to providing patients with sleep disorders the highest-level of care in the region,” says Antoine Badlissi, MD, medical director, Jordan Hospital Sleep Center. “We are honored to receive this recognition and for being a leader in region for sleep disorder medicine.” The AASM accredited a sleep disorders center for the first time in 1977. Today there are nearly 2,500 AASM-accredited sleep centers across the country. The AASM is a professional medical society for clinicians, researchers, and other health care providers in the field of sleep medicine. As the national accrediting body for sleep disorders centers, the AASM is dedicated to setting standards and promoting excellence in sleep medicine health care, education and research.
