Jordan Receives $1.5 Million for Hospice and Palliative Care - Archived
Jordan Hospital received a $1.5 million donation from the estate of Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (Clarke) Beane to support the work and secure the future services of the hospital’s Cranberry Hospice & Palliative Care program. This extraordinary bequest represents the largest donation to Cranberry Hospice & Palliative Care.
Mrs. Beane, who passed away in 2005, created a Trust leaving all but a small portion of her estate to Cranberry Hospice upon her husband’s death. A friend and supporter of Jordan Hospital, Arthur Beane, known as “Beanie” passed-away in February. The Beane’s were long-time residents of Kingston and Duxbury, Mass.
“We are appreciative of the thoughtful and generous gift to the hospital’s Cranberry Hospice & Palliative Care program by the late Mary Elizabeth Beane,” says Jordan Hospital President & CEO Peter Holden. “Cranberry Hospice provides patients with compassionate care at the end of life. Mrs. Beane’s donation ensures the future delivery of hospice and palliative care to those we serve.”
The donation will be used to establish the Mary Elizabeth Beane Endowed Fund to provide income into perpetuity to help fund Cranberry Hospice programs such as: bereavement support for adults and children;programs that promote comfort through the use of visual arts, music at the bedside, and complementary therapies; vigil volunteers, specialized care for Veterans, respite support for caregivers and community education on end-of-life issues, to name a few.
“We are so grateful to Mrs. Beane for this endowed that will provide support for Cranberry Hospice & Palliative Care’s care of the community well into the future,” says Cranberry Hospice & Palliative Care Administrator Deborah Dolaway.
